The wolf was traveling with a purpose. It was collared but I’m not sure who it was or which pack it was from. It was moving down the Firehole river on this wet May morning. It crossed the river and followed a path that came right to me. It had a distinctive black and blond diagonal stripe on its back. I watch it for 7 miles until it climbed a hill and disappeared over the top.
