The Crazy mountains of south central Montana are an island of mountains east of the Bridger mountains and north of the massive Absaroka mountains that extend through Yellowstone National Park.
The Crazy mountains got their name because if you get lost you could go crazy trying to find your way out. You see all of the drainages look alike so finding your vehicle at the end of the drainage might be difficult if you don’t remember how many ridges you had crossed.
