A fox I was watching headed towards Roosevelt Lodge and the cabins that surround the iconic log structure. The snow was knee deep for me but the small fox sunk only a few inches. I was hoping to photograph the fox hunting mice in the open areas between the rows of cabins. As I followed the tracks of the fuzzy red fox I came across bigger tracks, more rounded. Something was spending a lot of time making these paths throughout the Roosevelt area. Judging from the size and shape of the tracks, it had to be a bobcat.

I noticed some movement right in front of the Presidents Lodge, and there he was walking along the front steps. He stopped on a bare piece of ground and sat right next to the logs and stones of one of Yellowstone’s oldest destinations.
