I don’t believe I have photographed this bear at this location before. Every year from mid-March to mid-April I wait at Blacktail Ponds for bears and wolves to show up and claim the bison and elk that have had the misfortune of falling through the thinning ice. This big male grizzly was mostly a night feeder and was shy around people. Five years prior we had 3 grizzly bears at the ponds, the most I have ever seen. All three were used to people and would feed both day and night sometimes sleeping on the carcass between feedings.
