In January and February of 2016 at least five foxes in the Lamar Valley area were hunting every afternoon. These foxes had to wait for the warmth of the sun to soften the snow for their acrobatic dives to hunt mice and voles deep beneath the snow. They locate the rodents but using their ears which they maneuver independently to pin point the location of their prey, even if the prey is several inches below the surface of the snow.
