Canyon junction with its dense forest and small open meadows is the perfect habitat for the Great Grey Owl. The wooded areas provide good nesting locations and plenty of cover for resting during the daytime. The feathers of the Great Grey are camouflaged exceptionally with the bark of the trees. They will often roost close to the tree trunk and unexpectedly low to the ground. The large raptors make their way to the meadows to hunt in the mornings and evenings. If you are patient enough, you may see the Ghost of the Forest.
