For many years Blaze, the grizzly, had multiple cubs and some still overlap her territory. The little cub in this photograph was named “Hobo” because he would often hop a free ride on his mother’s back. Like other mother bears in Yellowstone, it is believed that she felt safe in this part of her range because big males shy away from human activity.
