Sandhill cranes nest near ponds in tall reeds. If you are lucky enough to see and hear a Sandhill crane courtship dance, it would be a lifetime memory.

This April image of these five cranes walking in the snow was named to reflect the late arrival of spring season in Yellowstone. Spring is when these large birds usually start building their nests, and the snow in the picture reminds us that they cannot shorten up their nesting cycle, they simply must manage.
